Collecting jewelry

Collecting jewelry has definitely become a big hobby for me. Some people collect whether it be vintage, gold, sterling, or custom jewelry simply because they have a great passion for it or for profit
Knowing where to buy great pieces is a key factor in being an advantageous jewelry collector also getting the most for your money. Over the years I have followed these few guidelines: Study jewelry history - research fashion trends, brands, metals, and gemstones. Be able to determine quality workmanship, this helps determine the value of pieces before purchasing them. Consignment shops. One of my favorite places to buy jewelry and also one of the best ways to get fabulous deals on all sorts of jewelry. Jewelry found in consignment shops are normally donated from personal collections and sometimes has never been worn or in new condition. Estate sales. A great opportunity to seek out quality vintage pieces. I love when I find jewelry that is signed in some kind of way, it is interesting to know a little bit about it's origin. Vintage/Antique jewelry stores. One of the best ways to ensure a great quality purchase. These items may be a bit more expensive in price than the consignment shops or estate sales, but ensures you get a good product as you are also paying for the efforts of having the jewelry researched and authenticated
